Event: Philippine International Balloon Festival 2014 (Part 1)

Updated: 04-23-2014

After the Early Morning Balloon Flight

For 2014, the official name the hot air balloon festival in the Philippines is Philippine International Balloon Festival 2014. It was previously named, Philippine International Friendship Balloon Festival 2014 held by Department of Tourism (DOT). And as mentioned on Philippine International Balloon Festival 2014 in Lubao, Pampanga, the previous hot balloon events were named as Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival which was held by a private group in Clark, Pampanga The private group was unable to prepare and cancelled the event for 2014. DOT took over the organize the 2014 hot air balloon event.

After my work shift on 04-12-2014, I went to the event. It was more or less 30 mins. drive from the Clark SCTEX to Dinalupihan. As I drove along the SCTEX, I saw the balloons were already flying at 6:00 AM in a total of 20 from my line of view:

You will need to zoom the picture to see the balloons

I took shots of the parking lot to show how many attended:

These shots were taken on different parking areas

The ticket cost P200.00

As I entered, the first thing you will see (other than the 2 big balloons left) are the concessionaires or what they call, the food court. Some of them are:

  • Barneys Burger
  • Burger King
  • Jollibee
  • KFC
  • McDonald’s
  • Mister Donut
  • Nathaniel’s
  • Shakey’s
  • Tokyo Tokyo
  • Yellow Cab

At the center of the found court, they made a square grass area with tents at the perimeter for us. This is where they held their dance and live band performance

A sales lady was trying to sell me an ice cream, so I took her picture for exchange

I was trying to tag her on Facebook but her name had many searches. Funny, I waited for her and sold me again an ice cream to help me search her FB account. I understand she was working so she left as soon as I bought the ice cream and probably she felt awkward with me asking. At the end, I was not able to search her.

Again I also saw these stand up cosplayers, asking for donation:

I saw some “commercial” balloons. Kampai!

I also saw Zoocobia with some of their animals. I believe they have bird show which I was not able to watch:

And finally, the 2 balloons left on the event. One good thing is you can go near the balloons to take pictures. Minutes later, they deflated the balloons:

After 10:00 AM, I checked the next line of events and they were kite flying (2:00 PM) and bubble show (4:00 PM). I took the chance to visit my friend and rest. Thanks Dennis Letran for the food, air condition, rest room, movie watching and short tour at your home :p
